Jay Silverman
Hi there. I'm Jay. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm an NYC-based professional with years of experience creating, shaping, and developing projects for major media properties, with a focus on content acquisitions, creative direction, business development, and production for streaming media platforms and educational/children's media organizations.
Currently, I'm working on some business development initiatives for Common Sense Media. Previously I've worked at companies like Big Bad Boo Studios/Oznoz, Sesame Workshop, batteryPOP, Kidjo, NYXT, and Kino Lorber.

My humor writing has been published in McSweeney's Internet Tendency on two occasions, and I've edited a variety of books pertaining to education, sports, and literature for the consumer market. I graduated from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater's improvisational comedy program and completed an extensive training course in Jim Henson-style rod-and-mouth puppetry (because I'm basically a 4-year-old at heart).

Sometimes I create crossword puzzles. You might have seen them in outlets like The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Globe and Mail. Playing with words is fun.

I have what is purportedly the 7th longest active Duolingo streak in the world, as I study five languages each day and have been doing so for over 4,000 consecutive days now. I'm conversational in French and Spanish and can get by in German, Italian, and Esperanto. Like I said: playing with words is fun. Even when they're not in English.

I graduated summa cum laude with Honors in Culture and Communication Studies distinction from New York University. My interests include reading, politics, the arts, studying foreign languages, visiting museums, playing trivia games, creating and solving puzzles, learning new things, drinking copious amounts of tea, and desperately rooting for the New York Mets.

I'm always interested in projects pertaining to educational and children's media, and in any opportunity to create, develop, produce, and distribute media that educates, engages, entertains, and makes the world a little bit better (and maybe a little bit more fun, too!).
If you've got something in the works, I'd love to hear about it. Feel free to reach out!
